Lý thuyết 1. Comparative - So sánh hơn Với tính từ/trạng từ ngắn: S1 + V + ADJ/ADV (ER) + THAN + S2 SO SÁNH HƠN Với tính từ/trạng từ dài: S1 + V + MORE + ADJ/ADV + THAN + S2 a. Tính từ ngắn và trạng từ ngắn (là tính từ có 1 âm tiết) Adj / Adv + ER + Than Example: Ann is shorter than Tom. Ann studies harder than Tom. b. Tính từ và trạng từ dài ( là tính từ có 2 âm tiết trở lên) More + Adj/ Adv + Than. Example: This shirt is more expensive than that one. She dance more beautifully than Tom. Note: - Tính từ, trạng từ ngắn tận cùng bằng E ta chỉ việc thêm R vào: Example: late -> later - Tính từ, trạng từ ngắn tận cùng bằng phụ âm đứng sau 1 nguyên âm ta phải gấp đôi phụ âm trước khi thêm ER. Example: Big - > Bigger - Các tính từ 2 âm tiết tận cùng bằng Y / ER / LE / OW / ET được xem là tính từ ngắn: Example: - noisy -> noisier - narrow -> narrower - simple -> simpler - clever -> cleverer - quiet -> quieter Note: Để nhấn mạnh sự so sánh người ta thêm: far/ much/ a bit/ a little trước so sánh: + far/ much/ abit/ a little + adj/ adv + er + than + far/ much/ a bit / a little + more + adj/ adv + than
